Work@Home: Meet an Associate

“You can do that from home?" This is a familiar question for Carol, a Verety Work@Home Remote Order Specialist. When she explains her job to family and friends, they find it hard to believe that the cheerful voice behind the drive-thru speaker post is coming from someone hundreds of miles away – and that she could be sitting at home in her pajamas.

Carol, who holds a degree in medical transcription, has long had her sights set on work-at-home opportunities. There is a 50-mile distance between Carol’s hometown of Steele and the larger North Dakota towns of Bismarck and Jamestown, where employment opportunities are more prevalent. Blustery, snowy winters and rising gas prices make working at home an easier solution, as well as a way for Carol to be more accessible to her children.

Carol joined Verety after seeing an ad in the local newspaper. She applied online and was soon invited to join the company. Carol participated in training at the Verety location in Steele before taking her first order at home. Now an experienced and confident Remote Order Specialist, Carol remarks, “Your fingers just know where to go — I don’t even think about it.”
